My name is Phil Merrell and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) here in beautiful Prescott, Arizona.

I have been married for 6 years and have 3 daughters and a Great Dane. I have also lived in Washington State and Alaska where I worked as a school counselor and did some commercial fishing.

I have highly specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and look forward to working with you to help you and your relationships!

  • My office is located in downtown Prescott, Arizona at 100 North Summit Avenue. Parking is anywhere you can find on the street.

  • I have a M.Ed from Western Washington University in School Counseling. I worked with students and families for ten years before switching to individual and couples therapy.

    I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Arizona and have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

    I am uniquely equipped to help individuals and couples work on better recognizing and experiencing their emotions in a healthy way.

    Most importantly I am happily married to my wife and a proud father to our three daughters.

  • Individual sessions are $150 for a 50 minute session and Couple’s sessions are $225 for an 80 minute session.

    I do not accept insurance at this time but I am happy to provide you with an invoice as some insurance companies will reimburse you.

    I accept credit cards or cash.

  • Late Cancellations/No-Shows

    A cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours before the appointed time. A no-show is when a client misses an appointment without cancelling. In either case, a missed appointment is billed at the full rate.

  • My hours are currently Tuesday - Friday between 9:00 and 5:00 pm. I currently do not offer weekend appointments.

  • At this time I am focusing on adults only and work with men, women and couples.

  • Our first session will be a brief overview of the process, covering informed consent and paperwork, and a chance for us to get to know each other better.

    I will do my best to make sure you feel heard and supported, but also am not afraid to lovingly point out blind spots or areas of growth you may not be aware of.

  • I believe I have something to offer in the way of helping couples and individuals and my path has led to the creation of Joinery Therapy.

    As trust is difficult to describe and quantify, I offer a free 15 minute consultation for you to have a chance to meet with me in person and see if we would be a good fit.
